PEI Mothers Plea to Health Minister
In these post-modern times, cultural lines are getting blurred between truth and fiction. But biological reality must stay true or all of humanity is in big trouble.
Hello Minster Mark McLane
I am a PEI self-employed business owner and mother of three, now adult children.
One of my children claims to be transgender. He is receiving GAC with PEI Health.
He has been taking prescribed puberty blockers and cross sex hormones since August 2023.
Because he is grown, I have been unable to stop him from putting himself on this destructive path to nowhere.
He has never been given any kind of proper mental health assessment and the fact that he is autistic has never been brought up at his appointments.
The main reason I am writing to you today is because
I want to know why there are no guardrails, no gatekeepers, nothing stopping my son from harming himself permanently.
Why the Prince Edward Island Government accepts self ID as reality when it is based on ideological pseudoscience nonsense.
Why Health PEI is still following the discredited WPATH standards of care, and not questioning why parents have justified concerns.
Since the spring of 2023, when I was shocked and confused to learn of my son's new sudden identity, I have been submerged in researching to understand this affliction. My son suffers from, what I now know is called rapid onset gender dysphoria/ RODG. This is a newly recognized social contagion brought on by factors like sexual insecurities, neurodivergent challenges, over exposure to the Internet and often pornography.
In addition to a common failure to launch that has increased rapidly among his age group and intensified due to the disruptive Covid lockdown.
Many vulnerable youths, like my son, have been drawn into some questionable areas of the Internet where they have fallen victim to the influence of progressive social justice activists and potential predators.
Young people are extremely susceptible to this new contagion, due to controversial beliefs (SOGI) being taught in Island schools under the cover of Inclusion by DEI compliant professionals.
Parents are told on PEI that affirming this new unproven belief is the only option for treatment. That questioning is hateful and puts them at guaranteed risk of self-harm.
This is a now a proven myth, as new data has revealed that young people that suffer from gender dysphoria are at a greater risk of harm post-transition.
The truth of the matter is - no one can change sex, and those that pursue this impossible quest eventually must face this truth, and try to come to terms with the mistake that they were led to make by radical activists disguised as trusted professionals.
The 5-year Cass review was released in 2024, and it has now proven that affirming a claim of a gender identity is NOT the proper course of action. And is in fact extremely harmful.
In addition, the 2024 expose of the WPATH files has proven that this is NOT an accredited organization, and that it is run by radical activists and not medical professionals.
I strongly believe PEI should abandon its support of WPATH standards of care model, and instead follow the non medicalization guidelines of the professional organization Therapy First.
I have taken my concerns to my family doctor, who agrees that affirming is not the best course of action, but he has been silenced, along with his colleague;. By the Canadian Bill C4 Known as the Conversion Therapy Bill, that bans any other form of treatment other than harmful, blind affirmation.
This is abusive and being petitioned for repeal.
The fact that it is known that the brain is not fully developed until minimum age 25-30, shows why there are so many young adults in the western world now attempting to Detransition back to their natal sex.
These struggling vulnerable young adults are now being denied care and rejected from community and health care organizations; as there is no protocol in place to help them live in reality, as government prefers to only support dangerous unproved experimental delusions.
Many countries are now abandoning these harmful experimental practices and Prince Edward Island has the opportunity to lead the way for Canada, to do the right thing for this struggling vulnerable population and DO NO MORE HARM.
I believe these policies originally came from a place of care and concern, as this is such unknown territory, we were all misguided into belief that it is somehow "just like gay" and cannot be questioned. It is now proven that it is all based on queer theory and radical progressive ideologies that go against nature and the strongly held beliefs of most families.
No one is born in the wrong body; this is not possible. And there is no wrong way to be a boy or girl.
Social constructive stereotypes should never go against the reality of our human bodies. The so-called inclusive suggestion that someone has to change their physical body in order to be their true internal self is harmful nonsense. No one, especially a vulnerable trusting young person should ever be told that they are a made wrong.
Everyone should be accepted unconditionally, and encouraged to express their personality openly without having to take on a label.
Our children are our future and our hope. If the young generation cannot grow up healthy, as health is our most important asset and nothing is possible without it, where is the country’s future?
Please protect our children and young adults.
I really hope that you all can recognize the importance of this issue.
I am looking forward to your prompt response on this matter.

Thank you so much for the reply Mark, I greatly appreciate any dialogue you can provide.
Please correct me if I am mistaken, but I believe the only course of treatment that PEI health offers gender clients is affirmation?
I have discussed this with my family doctor and to his knowledge no one on PEI has ever been denied affirmative care of their choice, we find these odds concerning.
My biggest concern is that the entire model is flawed, as PEI Proudly follows the WPATH Standards of care treatment model, which is sounding off alarms across the globe, as more countries every day are turning away from this harmful treatment protocol.
Can you tell me please, are you aware of the outcome of the Cass review? And have you looked into the expose on the wpath files?
Are patients being informed about this study and is it being taken into consideration as part of informed consent?
When young people, whose frontal lobe is not fully developed until minimum age 25, (if there is no neurodivergent issues), give consent to these irreversible treatments are they informed about the rising rates of detransitioners? Are they being offered any form of care if they should at some point change their mind about transition?
Are they told that they cannot actually change sex, and even if they change their genitalia and their sexed appearance with cross sex hormones and surgeries, that they cannot change the fact that every cell marker in their body has been developed based on their XX or XY chromosome during their development?
My son, (as I mentioned is on the autism spectrum), is almost two years now in this affirmative treatment care and has yet to receive any mental health support. He tells me that he was put on a waiting list but that no care has been offered to him to date, just renewed prescriptions.
I understand that this is a very sensitive topic, with very strong beliefs on both sides of the fence. I am not aware of any other physically altering medical treatment that is given for a mental health issue. And I understand that this is all experimental treatment as the entire concept of gender being separate from sex has only become a strong belief (based on a current popular ideology), in the last decade and is not based on biological fact.
GAC Is an example of scientists literally flying the plane while they are still building it....and our vulnerable children are the guinea pigs of this frankencience.
Again, as I said I very much appreciate any dialogue, and I hope that you do some more research into this situation.
I do believe it's just a matter of time before all of Canada pulls away from the GAC model, and I believe PEI could lead the way.
Also, I would like you to be aware that our [http://pei%20parents/]PEI parents[http://pei%20parents/] have gathered to date more than 1300 signatures from concerned Islanders. We have tried to find an MLA that will present our petition in the Legislature, but of course none are willing to because of the blowback that they would get from the very aggressive trans-activists here on the island.
But, respectfully, we are not going anywhere, especially those of us that are parents witnessing our children's destruction at the hands of the PEI healthcare system.
In closing, I am begging you, as one parent to another, to please look deeper into this very serious controversial issue, this is NOT the same as gay.
If one of your daughters came to you and told you that she believes she was born in the wrong body, wanted to take harmful experimental pharmaceuticals for the rest of her life, cut off her breasts and mutilate her reproductive system... you may say that you would be accepting, but until it actually happens to you, I beg to differ.
As you can imagine this issue has completely stolen away the last two years of my life, as I can think of nothing else but trying to save my son from this deep darkness that can only lead to misery and a life of suffering.
Thank you so much for your time.
I hope to hear from you again
Thank you for reaching out. We always appreciate hearing about people's experiences with our health system
The Gender Affirming Care Clinic follows an assessment process to determine the appropriate course of treatment and supports to meet an individual's needs. Gender-affirming care is prescribed based on the informed consent model that respects a person's right to self-determination. As part of the informed consent model, an individual's competency to make decisions is assessed before a treatment plan is pursued.
